In a world of ABUNDANCE…
Bydoes it make sense to experience LACK?
We live in a world of contrasts… and that is a good thing. It’s through contrast that new desires are inspired; and it’s through those situations and circumstances that we find least desirable that we hone clarity around what we prefer. A world full of Highly Evolved Beings appreciates the contrast for the information it provides and uses it to move in the direction of something better. Then there is the Human Being on Planet Earth…
Today is Blog Action Day 2008. The topic bloggers around the world are discussing is POVERTY. I find myself wondering if we’ll ever arrive at that place in our evolution where poverty is a rarity and the idea of ‘extreme poverty’ is merely an entertaining exercise of the mind. We have a ways to go.
I have an idea… a modest proposal. Let’s WAKE UP to the world of abundance we live in… and the memory that WE ARE ONE! Let’s dare to look into each others eyes… really look… and see ourselves reflected back! Let’s remember that we receive what we give and learn what we teach.
Let’s play a game for the next 24 hours… Imagine, if you will, whatever emotion or thought you express to another will instantly feed directly back to you. Each time you see someone, even those your eyes “happen” to light on, it will be as if you’re looking directly at yourself. Whatever you may ‘teach’ that someone, you will be teaching yourself. Whatever position you put someone else in, you will feel so placed.
Today, if you catch yourself seeing or thinking of someone as separate from you, the lesson you will learn is that you are cut off and alone. However, if you quickly change your thought to something like, “We walk together, you and I” or “Oh, I am that, too” then the lesson that you are fully joined and deeply meaningful to every living thing will be brought to your understanding.
For this 24 hours, imagine that there is no limit to how much you can give yourself today, nor to all the deeply satisfying qualities you can extend directly to yourself.
But keep in mind… Trying to “please” another — trying to be popular or to be liked — is not an act of love. Don’t be fooled into thinking otherwise or you fall back into a poverty mentality.
To solve poverty is to expand our thinking, our awareness, our love. It’s to let love inspire us and to be willing to act on that inspiration. If we’re not willing to do that then I challenge you, like the wise young man, to tell me why…

What an inspiring post Mary K.!
I will act on this for the next 24 hours and keep it going past today.
It is amazing how much time we spend thinking of what we don;t have when we are abundantly supplied in all the most important things in life, money included.
It would be wonderful to reach the point where no one is hungry of living without a home or knowing they are completely loved.
Warmest regards,

Hi Mary K, thanks so much for this profound post, I like the idea of using the idea “I am that, too” to help me remember we ARE all one — and not only with the things we may feel dismayed about (which are opportunities for self-healing and therefore world healing), but also that when we see the things we like, admire, or love in others, we can recognize that – YES! – we are THAT, too!
And taking it further, when we see things in others that may otherwise make us feel jealous, remembering that we are that, TOO, will take away any thought of jealously if we allow ourselves to really accept it as true!
