Dear 2009,

I know 2008 has left you with a few messes to clean up. We’re still counting votes to find out if our new Senator will be a former comedian or will continue to be a joke. We’re reeling at the news that Ponzi schemes are not limited to the Network Marketing industry that you know I love so well. And of course there is the remaining physical rebuilding left after 2008′s ‘winds of change’ merely became winds of destruction with names like Gustav and Ike and the many unnamed tornadoes.

The thing is… I have hope for you. My son thinks you, 2009, are funnier, sexier and much, much smarter than 2008. I’m inclined to agree with him. Though we don’t know you well yet, being as you are only a couple of days old, I see promise in this new relationship and I’m eager to see what shape it takes.

I find myself imagining restored respect for constitutional rights and inspired leadership. I have a faint memory of that from days gone by… just imagining the return is a bit exhilirating. And as long as I’m reaching out there with wild imagination I’ll share that I even imagine that you… yes YOU – 2009 – could be the year where the news is not about the crazy humans thinking it’s rational to drop bombs of destruction on one another… but instead, dropping bombs of GOOD NEWS and OUTRAGEOUS JOY-FILLED CONNECTIONS!!!

Where more people join me in sending cards of celebration and love in abundance, changing their life story from one of lack to one of FULLNESS in all areas.

When we meet each challenge by asking “What if” instead of blindly following the old train of thought down the road of resistance. Like:

What if we can be enlightened, loving, empowering, AND rich too?

What if money is just another form of the abundance that you unlock when you move past the restrictions you place on yourself?

What if money is your outer reflection of your inner allowing?

What if the story of you that you’ve been telling yourself can be changed?

What if just something simple like that, just telling yourself a story that feels good when you tell it, changes everything?

So, 2009, what if you are the year where we learn to tell your story FIRST… a story that feels good. Oh, not perfect… we can’t even agree with ourselves about what that would be… but what if we decide to make the dominant story of 2009 one well-lived. Not because we’ve lived it yet… but because it’s what we’re talking about. What if talking more about what we’re on our way to and less of what we’ve lived through really does close the gap… bringing us closer to our dream?
